The article overviews the problems which arise as the result of the environmental impact of mining and mining and
processing enterprises. The Earth and its bowels are the source of commercial activity of mining complex. The article
examines goals and targets of land protection in accordance with the Land Code of the Russian Federation. Attention is
given to the legal and legislative framework regulating land relations. Authorities are mentioned, which exercise state
control in the sphere of environmental protection. At the modern stage the land resources of a significant part of the
territory of the Russian Federation is affected by different negative processes, which arise as the result of mining complex
impact: technogenic landscapes generation, land pollution and littering, steady decline in soil fertility, and manifestation
of technogenic seismic activity. The reduction of land dedicated to agricultural production has become the result of
commercial activity, together with the extension of disturbed lands as the result of extensive development of industrial
production. Practical mechanism meant to control qualitative condition and the utilization of the land resources within
the zone of mining complexes impact, represents an integral part of state monitoring of lands.
Key words: Federal state environmental supervision, the Federal service for supervision in the sphere of nature use
(Rosprirodnadzor); Federal service for state registration, cadastre and cartography (Rosreestr); land control; mining
enterprises; environmental protection; the depletion and contamination of land; reclamation; technogenic and natural
geotechnical hazards.
